UI Designer → Team Lead
Folkeuniversitetet is one of Norway’s largest education providers for adults. I redesigned its digital presence, creating a more consistent system across the website, campaigns, and communication.
Folkeuniversitetet had a well-established brand, but its digital presence no longer reflected the experience it offered.
My role was to redesign the website and translate the refreshed identity into a flexible digital system that could scale across content, campaigns, and communication.
The new identity retained Folkeuniversitetet’s recognisable owl and core colour palette, while introducing a more contemporary visual language. My role was to make that identity work in a practical digital environment, not just as a branding exercise.
I designed layouts and reusable patterns that could work across a large education website with different course types, audiences, campaigns, and content needs.
Folkeuniversitetet serves people with very different goals, from language learners to professionals exploring vocational and cultural education.
I created clearer entry points, predictable content patterns, and flexible page structures so users could quickly understand what was relevant to them without making the website feel fragmented.

After launch, I used that feedback to refine flows, simplify pages, and resolve usability issues found in real use.
Folkeuniversitetet offers a wide range of courses and services across multiple education categories and audiences.
The amount and variety of content made pages dense and difficult to scan.
Designed clearer page structures, stronger content hierarchy, reusable modules, and consistent interaction patterns.
The website became easier to navigate, while the internal team gained a flexible system for publishing new content without designing new layouts from scratch.
The work continued beyond the main website redesign.
I also created and adapted visual materials for campaigns, landing pages, digital communication, and other brand touchpoints, helping the new identity stay consistent across everyday marketing use.
The wider redesign included a refreshed identity, logo system, typography, guidelines, web design, and applications across digital and physical materials.

I used AI early in the process to explore visual directions, generate references, and speed up repetitive ideation.
Final decisions around structure, typography, UX, UI, and brand application were made through the design process and collaboration with the team.
The redesign transformed Folkeuniversitetet’s website from a collection of individually designed pages into a more coherent and reusable digital system.
A shared structure, component library, and clearer content hierarchy made the experience more consistent for users and easier for the internal team to maintain and extend.
The same visual system now supports campaigns and communication across multiple touchpoints.
